Our goal, first and foremost, is to cultivate and encourage discipleship of Christ in each Camp Deborah participant. We do this through focused Bible studies and self-reflection.
Girls will gain camping skills by navigating trails with a map, using a backpacking stove, and setting up tents (among a host of other things). Possessing these skills will encourage a sense of confidence, independence, and eagerness to try new things. We hope these girls become life-long backpackers!
We do a lot of work on this trip, but we have a lot of fun too! Downtime activities include card games and Bananagrams, exploring new places, heart-to-heart (and silly) conversations, story time, making stick dolls—even a banana slug challenge for anyone up to the test!
A classic forest sprite, Karinne has always spent as much of her time as possible outdoors. She loves backpacking in the Trinity Alps, hiking the trails of Tahoe, and biking the coastal streets of San Diego. Karinne sees all creation as a reflection of God—His gift to us to teach us His nature in tangible ways.
When she’s not outside or with her church family, Karinne lives her life in service to young people as a middle school teacher. At 23 years old, she co-founded Camp Deborah in 2017 with Sidney Weast as a way to bring many of her passions together. Karinne is thrilled to continue serving as a guide!
Emily is so excited and honored to be a guide at Camp Deborah this year after spending many summers as a camper. It has always been a favorite part of her summer and an impactful experience that's left her feeling closer to God, His natural creation, and fellow disciples and women.
Emily is a Sophomore in college studying Social Work, and hoping this retreat can make as positive of an impact and be as safe of a space for you as it was for her.
